One of the most common questions we get from parents is:
“What’s the right age for my child to start Parkour?”
The short answer?
Most kids can safely and confidently start learning Parkour around age 5 or 6—as long as the sessions are age-appropriate, fun, and focused on movement through play.
At The Parkour Academy, our classes are designed specifically for young beginners, helping them build body awareness, confidence, and coordination through games and challenges that feel more like fun than structured exercise.
🧠 Why Start Early?
Kids naturally love to run, jump, climb, and explore. Parkour taps into that instinct and channels their energy into structured and fun movement.
Starting young helps them:
- Improve balance, strength, coordination, and stamina
- Develop confidence as they overcome challenges
- Learn focus and discipline—without it ever feeling boring
- Build social skills through group games and teamwork
🛡️ But Is It Safe?
Yes—when taught correctly.
Our classes are carefully structured to match your child’s age and ability. We focus on safe progressions, starting from basic movements like balancing and crawling before moving into jumps, vaults, and obstacle runs.
We also teach how to fall safely, how to manage fear, and how to respect their own limits—all in a fun, encouraging environment.
Our coaches are experienced and qualified, and know how to properly spot and support children—especially when working on more advanced moves.
📍 What Ages Do We Accept?
At The Parkour Academy, we currently run sessions for children aged 6 and above, all the way up to 18 years old.
We’ve found that around age 5–6, most children have the focus, coordination, and discipline to enjoy Parkour safely in a group setting. Before that age, it can be harder for children to stay focused and follow instructions, so group classes may be more challenging.
If your child is younger than that, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to chat and let you know if they’re ready!
We also offer 1-to-1 sessions for younger kids. These can be a great option, allowing them to play and learn with the full attention of one of our coaches.
🎯 Not Just About Movement
Parkour isn’t just a physical activity—it teaches life skills too. Kids learn resilience by failing and trying again, problem-solving through team challenges, and self-belief as they accomplish things they didn’t think they could do.
The best part about this career for me as a youth coach is witnessing these moments—and going home knowing those little wins will help build a better future for your child.
☀️ Why Our Classes Are Outdoors
We believe children today spend too much time indoors—whether at school or at home.
Outdoor time is essential for healthy development. It helps kids release stress, move freely, and disconnect from the digital world. That’s why our classes take place in the open air—where kids can thrive.
✅ Ready to Give It a Try?
